#226 causes for early miscarriages

from: word count: 426

The Causes For Early Miscarriages Are Not Always Easy To Determine

Unfortunately, causes for early miscarriages can be difficult to ascertain. While miscarriage is a common complication that ends pregnancies and occurs often before a woman even realizes that she is pregnant, determining the reason for miscarriage can be difficult, if not impossible.

Most causes for early miscarriages revolve around genetic abnormalities in the embryo that make it non-viable. In most cases, there was nothing the pregnant woman did wrong to cause a miscarriage and nothing medically could have been done to prevent that miscarriage from happening. Miscarriages are so common that it’s not unusual for a couple to suffer the loss of more than one pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.

While more than half of all causes for early miscarriages revolve around genetic reasons or chromosomal abnormalities, most women have no problem having a successful pregnancy despite one or two miscarriages. When a woman has three consecutive miscarriages, she is considered as having recurring miscarriages and her doctor will work with her to ascertain the reason for this and work to find a potential solution.

Not all miscarriages have symptoms. While some early warning signs occur with women who have vaginal bleeding or cramping, others discover that their pregnancy self terminated without their knowledge. This can be discovered via a blood test or an ultrasound scan.

Other causes for early miscarriages can be:
* Sexually Transmitted Diseases
* A Uterine Structural Abnormality or Problem
* Maternal Age
* Drug or Alcohol Use
* Extreme Stress

Stress and trauma isn’t often a cause for early miscarriages but is a possibility. A woman who is over the age of thirty five also has an increased risk of miscarriage. Engaging in drug or alcohol use can also be a cause for early miscarriages.

In the quest to have a healthy pregnancy, women who are planning to become pregnant should seek medical attention prior to trying to conceive. Also, women should take a folic acid supplement for a few menstrual cycles if at all possible to help reduce the risk of some defects such as Spina Bifida. If you become pregnant unexpectedly, you should still take Folic Acid for the first trimester and begin taking prenatal vitamins as soon as possible. While you may not feel like you have much appetite due to morning sickness, do your best to care for yourself. Most women who have miscarriages are able to have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. It’s important to give yourself time to grieve your loss and obtain as much moral support as you can during this difficult time.
